Tom Norman - MOS 94B20
Duty Stations Ft Devens (not surprising); 313th RR Bn; 371st RRC An Khe and Phong Dien; Arlington Hall; 83rd RR SOU Bangkok
Current Location Near Cincinnati, Ohio
Comments I started out training for 05H, but could not pass 18wpm. Went to work as a cook. In Vietnam, did a little Morse intercept work, did a little radio maintenance, other things as needed. I won't say I loved being a soldier, but I disliked even more being frowned upon after leaving the service to attend University. I imagine most here could offer similar stories and sentiments.

Jim Norrbom - Joined Army July 13, 1956 along with my brother Fred (who has passed away).  Went to school at Ft. Devens from Oct.56 to March 57.  Stationed at Camp Sobe Okinawa from April of 57 to June of 59 was an 058.2 Am Retired and live in Burnsville, MN. I belong to the ASA Okinawa Assoc.

Richard Norton - MOS 71L20

Years of Service 1967-1969

Duty Stations After basic at Fort Campbell, KY (after being drafted, I first was sent to Fort Ord in Monterey, CA, but due to the meningitis outbreak there, they quarantined the base and transferred new inductees to different forts), then advanced training at Ft. Eustis, VA, I was "inducted" into the USASAPAC and stationed at Helemano Military Reservation in Wahiawa, Hawaii and remained there until my discharge.

Comments I spent my 17 months (after advanced training to discharge) at Helemano in the S-2 primarily focused on matters concerning overseas activities by soldiers with security clearances. I had graduated from college and was working at the U.S. Treasury when I was drafted. I was told that because of my degree and prior confidential security clearance with the U.S. Treasury, ASA wanted me. Generally, I understood that ASA required a 4-year enlistment. I enjoyed my tour of duty in Hawaii. I met one of my dearest friends - Byron Tobeck - who was in the S-3 at Helemano. We kept in constant contact when we left the Service. Unfortunately, he passed away in February 2003. My immediate senior officer was Major Francis Huber - a great man to work for. I do not know if he is still alive. I have lots of fond memories of my time in ASA.

Comments Enjoyed each duty station for different reasons. Army helped me to grow up a bit. Allowed me to travel to destinations that I could only dream about. Provided me with G I bill of rights so I could complete my B A degree, and into graduate school.
